Members of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) in Lautoka were told by their Commander Brigadier-General Mosese Tikoitoga yesterday to be neutral during the September elections. He said their role in the 2013 Constitution had changed and they needed to be neutral at all times.
“We need to defend the Constitution at all costs,” Brigadier-General Tikoitoga said during his first official visit to the West.
He set some ground rules with his troops on their political rights.
“You have a right to choose a party, but do not be part of the campaign because it will ruin our standard in front of the Fijian people, who we have vowed to serve,” Brigadier-General Tikoitoga said.
