The Royal Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) will not interfere with the activities of the Methodist Church of Fiji, Commander Brigadier-General Mosese Tikoitoga clarified yesterday.
This assurance was made by the Commander Tikoitoga during his visit to the Lautoka (Echo) Company yesterday.
“There were rumours outside the military that we tried so hard to compress the Methodist Church at all cost including the hosting of the Bose Ko Viti,” the Commander said.
He told members of the 3FIR Battalion, including some of the Territorial Forces personnel and army wives present that these rumours were just lies. During the Commander hand-over ceremony at the Queen Elizabeth’s Barracks Nabua, Suva, earlier in March, 10 church ministers were invited to take part at the church service.
“The RFMF fully recognised and gave a full traditional accord to the church on that day and we will stand by it,” the Commander said.
