Two Government vessels have left for Lau to bring in delegates for the Lau Provincial Council meeting, schedule to be held in the second of week of April.
This was confirmed by Commissioner Eastern Lieutenant-Colonel Netani Rika saying this will give enough time for the delegates from the islands to be transported to Viti Levu.
He said Government vessel Rogovoka II left for Lau early this week to transport delegates from Yasayasa Moala and parts of Northern Lau.
They are expected to arrive in Suva next week.
Lieutenant-Colonel Rika said the rest of the delegates would await the arrival of the government vessel MV Iloilovatu which will leave for the islands today.
The MV Iloilovatu returned to Suva yesterday after a two-and-half-week tour of the Lau Group transporting the Minister for Women, Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation Dr Jiko Luveni.
Lieutenant-Colonel Rika said the dates for the meeting would be confirmed by the provincial council office in Suva. Roko Tui Lau Joeli Nagera could not be reached for comment yesterday.
Lau was the only province that did not have its provincial council meeting last year because of the unavailability of a Government vessel.
The meeting will be held at the Studio 6 conference room during the second week of April.
