The Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), Brigadier- General Mosese Tikoitoga yesterday revealed a new plan for soldiers in the Territorial Force (TF).
While closing the 8th Fiji Infantry Regiment (8FIR) annual camp atTaunovo, Galoa, Serua, yesterday the Commander said senior officers at the camp were putting in the final touches to the new plan before it was rolled out.
“The plan will be very beneficial to all of you,” he said. A major part of the plan, he said, was the creation of temporary employment in the RFMF, which was a great opportunity for all in the TF.
“The 500 for back ups will be those who will be replacing the 500 regular soldiers rostered for peacekeeing duty for 12 months.”
He said when the 500 regular soldiers’ returned home those from the TF would be enlisted for temporary employment and if their performance was excellent they would be enlisted with the RFMF.
He stressed that this new opportunity was there for them and they had to grab it.
However he stressed that those chosen for peacekeeping duties must have a good record.
When the final selection for peacekeeping was done, he said, the selection board would check the personal files of all applicants and any bad record could automatically disqualify the applicant.
They also had to be fit, he said and he warned them of non -communicable diseases (NCDs).
