The National Federation Party needs new blood and new faces, says former party president, Raman Pratap Singh. He did not seek re-election during yesterday’s annual general meeting in Nadi.
The election of Professor Biman Prasad as party leader and Tupou Draunidalo as president is expected to be a game changer for the party.
Acknowledging Mr Singh’s contribution to the party, Professor Prasad said: “I join the whole party and thousands of citizens of our country in expressing our profound thanks to the outgoing president, Raman Singh. “Mr Singh has ably led and steered our party in difficult times. Your thorough service and commitment strengthened our party. You have displayed that unflinching spirit of service that has been the hallmark for all our leaders past.”
Mr Singh has confirmed that he will still vie for candidacy in the NFP line-up.
An expression of interest was advertised yesterday which said: “Applicants must have a record of service to the community, compassion for the less fortunate, show, demonstrable support in his or her community and commitment to the rule of law, democracy and human rights. The NFP especially -encourages youth and women to apply.”
