The Lautoka Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a workshop for unemployed graduates and youths yesterday.
The chamber’s administrator, Mohammed Salim, said the workshop was for those interested in starting their own businesses and they were targeting at least 300 participants.
“There will be representatives from financial institutions and bank agencies present and we are doing this to foster their employment prospects and for the country’s economy.”
Mr Salim said mentors from a variety of fields, including agriculture and commerce, would be present. Organisations collaborating include the Fiji National University, Empower Pacific and the National Centre for Small and Micro-Enterprises Development.
The workshop was held at the FNU’s Natabua campus theatre in Lautoka from 8.30am to 4pm.
More than 200 participants have registered their interest so far.
