Prime Minister Rear Admiral (Retired) Voreqe Bainimarama will hit the road in an antique bus on Thursday to gather signatures for the registration of his proposed FijiFirst political party.
He unveiled the name of his proposed party and campaign bus at the My Suva Picnic Park yesterday. Mr Bainimarama said the proposed FijiFirst would be “Fiji’s only political movement that will truly put every Fijian first.”
He said the proposed party name reflected what he truly believed in.
“A Fiji where every Fijian regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, status, colour, gender and creed is considered equal – where every Fijian is put first in relation to our collective progress, success and growth as a nation.” The Prime Minister will take leave this week and together with his campaign team, travel around Viti Levu and Vanua Levu to gather signatures. I invite you to come and talk with me as I travel the country. Some of you haven’t chosen a party yet, others may have already registered for another party. Regardless, let’s get together and talk anyway.
“We must face the challenges of the future together – you and I must put Fiji first.” Mr Bainimarama said he was confident of getting over 5,001 signatures over the course of two weeks.
“The work that we started must continue. If the work is completed under the proposed FijiFirst, we will become more prosperous, Fiji will be more peaceful and Fiji will become a stronger nation.
“You and your families will have a better future. But the work, my fellow Fijians, cannot be completed without you coming along with me on this journey – we all need to put Fiji first. The proposed FijiFirst needs you. No longer do the interests of a select few come before what is good for all Fijians. We must put Fiji first.”
