Town COUNCIL head not happy with people dumping rubbish illegally IN SPITE OF ANTI-LITTER DECREE

Despite an anti-litter decree put in place, people still do not show any pride to keep the environment clean, says Tavua Town Council chief executive, Tulsi Ram.
He said the reclaimed area on the entrance to the Tavua Town coming from Ba Town has now become a dumping ground for all kinds of rubbish.
“This does not give a good impression to the people travelling through the Tavua Town as they are welcomed by this eye- sore,” Mr Ram said.
“This only shows what kind of people we have who have no pride for their district.”
He said the council was doing a lot of work to beautify the town, yet the outskirts were becoming a dumping ground.
Mr Ram has now warned people not to throw any rubbish in the said area saying those caught would be penalised.
He said he appreciated the work done by the Fiji Sun and the FBC asking people not to damage our pristine environment.
“Yet educated people tend to be the ones bringing their rubbish and throwing it at the site and at the outskirts of the town,” Mr Ram said. Tavua Town Council
