Compared to their last game against Northland where they lost by one point, Namosi will be hoping for some good luck this weekend as they play Ovalau in the last round of the Skipper Cup competitions.
Namosi head coach Timoci Wainiqolo said in order for them to qualify for a place in the semifinal, a bonus point win is crucial.
“We want to win this weekend and we need a bonus point; last week luck wasn’t on our side; we played well but we couldn’t hold on long enough to win the game and I hope this weekend will be different,” he said.
Namosi is currently sitting in sixth place with 29 points and they will be playing with the added pressure of securing four tries in their game against Ovalau but Wainiqolo said they are preparing accordingly.
“It will be a lot pressure on the boys to win this weekend, but that’s when preparation comes in and we need to be ready mentally, psychically and spiritually.
“To put it simply, it is a do or die situation.” he said.
Namosi will be missing three of their players this weekend.
While they will be playing to book a spot in the semifinals, Ovalau will be playing to improve their standing on the points table.
Ovalau sits in ninth place with 11 points and Ovalau manager Waisea Cerenadau said they would also be playing to win.
“We know Namosi wants to win but we also want to win because we want to improve on our position on the points table and we will be giving Namosi a good game.” he said.
The match between Namosi and Ovalau will be played in Nasau Park in Levuka at 3pm.
