Teachers and management of Saint Mary’s Primary School in Labasa hosted a thanksgiving lunch on Wednesday to thank their students for winning the Northern Zone Team Maths competition.
The school won in the Year 5 to Year 8 primary category which was held at Labasa College hall last week.
Team co-ordinator Saleshni Deo said they were part of the 16 schools in the primary category in the Northern Division.
She said the team had qualified to take part in the national competition scheduled for September 13.
“Our Year 8 team have qualified for the ‘Calculate’ and we are happy that we have a chance in taking part with other schools in Viti Levu,” Mrs Deo said.
“We will have five weeks of preparation for the nationals and Calculate.
“We will have to start now in order to win the National competition.”
Mrs Deo attributes their win to the teachers, school management and all those who have supported the team through prayers and hard work.
“The win is also from the hardworking team members and commitment they have made to make the win a successful one.”
