Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) works closely with the Commissioners in each division to programme and carry out rural road maintenance and upgrade work.
In the months of June and July some contracts have been awarded under the rural roads programme. This was confirmed by FRA in a statement yesterday.
FRA stated that the Namuavoivoi Road in Bua would see a total of 23 kilometres of road upgraded.
This is an existing village access that serves the Namuavoivoi Village.
“The contract was awarded to Hussains Plant hire for the tender sum of $2.4 million,” the FRA statement said.
FRA also said that a total of 12 kilometres of unsealed road would be upgraded by A. Khan Hire who was successful in their bid to upgrade Raravula Road.
Meanwhile, Kashmir Transport has also been awarded a tender with the project value of $4.1 million where the transport company will upgrade the Wailevu West Coast Road and Kubulau Peninsula Road from Dawara Bridge to Nadivakarua Bridge.
