The Ministry of Agriculture in Labasa is expecting a good crowd at the 2014 Crest Agriculture Show, which opens today atSubrail Park in Labasa.
Principal agriculture officer North John Cox yesterday said this was part of the ministry’s focus to demonstrate the diversity and richness of our agriculture.
“Business and Government departments will showcase their products and also provide an opportunity for learning and making known the opportunities available, not only in the agriculture sector, but other sectors,” Mr Cox said.
“It will encourage farmers and businesses to exploit their opportunity and more importantly provide school children a platform to learn and understand more about agriculture.”
Mr Cox said the showcase would benefit the students. “It will continue to attract students and people from all walks of life to view, learn, buy and sell or just to have a good time with the mini competitors during the event,” he said.
There will be displays of various agricultural items from vegetables, root crops, virgin oils, seaweed items as well as florists.
