Fiji Roads Authority is advising the public, especially travellers along Vakabuli Road in Lautoka, that the Vitogo Paipai Bridge is temporarily closed because of damage sustained overnight and will reopen after structural repairs are carried out by Higgins (Fiji) Limited.
Following a combined inspection by FRA’s maintenance contractor Higgins, and Engineers from MWH Global, the bridge was deemed unsafe and should not remain opened until fully repaired.
In the interim an alternative access is available via other connecting or looped roads that may appear longer. However, FRA teams on the ground are working to reopen the bridge by early next week so we ask for the public’s understanding, as this closure may bring about short term inconvenience to travellers in the area.
Travellers along this road are advised to contact Fiji Roads Authority on 5720 if they have any queries.
