Students of Suva Muslim Primary School were excited about the Eid celebration and had come out with their best attire at their school in Nabua yesterday.
School’s headboy Ozayr Akbar said Eid was a very special day of rejoicing and feasting with their families and friends.
“The traditional sweet dishes and other festive foods are an integral part of Eid and the rich fare is enjoyed by everyone, but particularly loved by children,” Ozayr said.
School’s headgirl Jowairiyya Nisa said she was really happy that her school was celebrating this important occasion.
“Students will be able to learn more about Eid and we can share our happiness with our friends,” Jowairiyya said.
School headteacher Mohammed Taiyas Hussain said Eid was a joyous occasion because it marked the successful conclusion of the month of Ramadan.
“During this month, Muslims observe a fast between sunrise and sunset and they are absorbed in prayer and reflection during the day,” Mr Hussain said.
Mr Hussain said the abundance of food, love, and merriment on Eid won the students over completely.
