A 35-year-old labourer was yesterday sentenced to two years imprisonment by the Suva Magistrates Court after pleading guilty to a charge of grievous bodily harm.
Solomoni Fakauliafa, who had allegedly hit his wife with a broom stick and a piece of wood, was handed his sentence by Magistrate Hettiwattege Somaratne.
The incident happened on the morning of July 28, 2014, during an argument. The wife threw his clothes outside the house after which the accused allegedly started beating her up.
The matter was reported to the Police and the accused was arrested. The accused will be eligible for parole after serving one year in prison.
