The ATH Group of Companies is now seeking growth opportunities, said group chairman, Ajith Kodagoda, in the company’s Annual Report for the year ended March 31, 2014.
Mr Kodagoda said the first was by connecting of Vanuatu to Fiji through submarine optical fibre cable.
This follows on from the earlier launch of the Tonga to Fiji submarine cable.
Mr Kodagoda said: “These initiatives make the group a key player on a regional basis and set the platform for further collaboration and expansion.”

Regulators
On the regulatory front, Mr Kodagoda said it was important for regulators and Commerce Commission to realise the ICT industry ecosystems are extremely resource and capital-intensive with long investment cycles.
“Regulatory foresight is required in ensuring that efficient price signals are relayed to investors,” he said.
“Also the returns on these capital investments support the ongoing reinvestment and innovation critical for the long-term benefit of end users and the sustainability of the industry.”
Mr Kodagoda said given adequate level of support, the ATH Group of Companies will take leadership in delivering ubiquitous, high quality and affordable digital connectivity to customers in all markets it operates in.
“ATH has played a significant role in connecting people in Fiji and now the Pacific to each other, thereby improving business opportunities, standard of living and breaking down barriers that once prevented seamless business and living,” he said.
