As the 2014 Northern Agriculture Show comes to an end, two girls still cannot believe what they had achieved on second day of the event.
Merewai Senivugawai and Salote Drauna of Nasekula District School won categories one and two at the 2014 Northern Agriculture Show Oratory Contest held at Subrail Park in Labasa on Thursday.
Year 7 student Salote was speechless as she scooped both the awards.
“We like to thank God almighty for the win and our co-ordinator Mr Kamal,” Salote said
“We would also like to thank our parents and students for the great support,” Merewai said.
Co-ordinator Mohammed Kamal said with less than one week to prepare, winning both the categories was the icing on the cake for the girls.
“We had only one week to prepare the girls so the win was such a great achievement for the school,” he said.
School headteacher Disese Matarugu was delighted with their win.
“It is a great way of exposing the children and getting them out of their books with a little extra-curriculum activities” she said.
