Shaw is Category One referee
Della Shaw has become the first ever female International Weightlifting Category One referee in the Pacific region.
Shaw received the confirmation from International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) during the IWF Congress in Glasgow.
The Oceania Weightlifting Federation after monitoring and observing Shaw at the recent Oceania Championships recommended that she be upgraded to Category One referee status.
Weightlifting Fiji secretary Christopher Yee says this is a great achievement for the sport after Apolonia Vaivai’s bronze medal win in the women’s 75kg in Glasgow.
“We are proud of her achievement and we will be looking forward to seeing Della officiating in major International competitions soon,”Yee said.
“This is another milestone for weightlifting in Fiji.”
