Meet Eceli Koroi Rosa, the founder and managing director of Cakes 2000.
There are two shops in Suva, one located next to McDonald’s in Suva City and the main branch at Salato Street in Namadi Heights.
The other outlet in Navua is currently undergoing refurbishment works with an additional recreational inflatable park for children.
In 1995, Ms Rosa opened Cakes 2000 in May at a small restaurant at the former JJs on the Park (now known as De Vos on the Park) but things did not turn out well. Then she opened the outlet in Salato Road the same year.
Ms Rosa graduated with a diploma in hotel management and catering at the age of 18 from the Hotel and Catering School in Nasese, now under the Fiji National University.
Her first job was at the then Fiji Institute of Technology main cafeteria (now FNU) Samabula campus in Suva as the cafeteria manageress for one year.
In 2011, Cakes 2000 started its new complementary business arm, Party Fun Services.
Ms Rosa said with this new service, they have Disney fun characters, bouncy castle hire, zorb balls and pool, blow up pools that can be hired for birthdays or special parties.
“Our newest product is our boat which is a Party Fun Picnic charter service where we take people out from the yacht club to Nukulau island and the sand bank out in the Suva harbour.”
“It’s amazing how even the old people enjoy the characters Dora, Sponge Bob, Poo bear, Scorby Doo, Kung Fu.”
