$30K Boost for Tourney

Fiji Secondary School Football Association received $30,000 from Vodafone Fiji in Suva yesterday. The sponsorship will assist the association in the organising of the 2014 Fiji Secondary School Football Championship at Govind Park, Ba on August 14-17.
Vodafone chief marketing officer Sanjeewa Perera says this is an indication of their support towards development of the sport.
“The true reflection of our passion and commitment for the sport can be seen in our bid to firm up the foundation by support to the grassroot level of football,”Perera said.
“We are proud to be the name behind our football teams.”
FSSFA president Aminesh Ram acknowledges Vodafone for their support. “It was always our dream to partner with a global network like Vodafone,”Ram said.
“Most of the players are members of the Under-20 team that have qualified for the FIFA U20 World Cup next year.”
Tailevu North College and Nabua Secondary School U19 teams will be the new addition this year in which 20 schools will be competing.
Pool A: Vunimoli Islamia College, Penang Sangam High School, Tilak High School, Sigatoka Methodist High School and Tailevu North College.
Pool B: Drasa Secondary School, Saraswati College, Kamil Muslim College, Naleba College, Nawai Secondary School;
Pool C: Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Balata High School, Sigatoka Andhra College, Gospel High School and Vashist Muni College;
Pool D: Labasa Muslim College, Nukuloa College, Nadi College, Baulevu High School and Nabua Secondary School.
The four schools competing in the U17 grade are Labasa Muslim, Nausori High, Nadi Muslim and Nukuloa College.
In the U15 grade national U20 head Coach Ravinesh Kumar coached AD Patel College side from Ba will be a team to beat alongside Vashist Muni College and Natabua High.
Fiji Secondary School Football president Aminesh Ram says the fixtures and prizemoney will be finalised tomorrow.
