The 2014 inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants tournament has been boosted with the $60,000 sponsorship yesterday.
Representing the sponsors, CJ Patel Group’s marketing director Nathan Hildebrand said this year marked the sixth year Inkk is supporting the B.O.G. and the first under the Vodafone-CJ Patel consortium.
Hildebrand said sponsors looked forward to another successful tournament and announced other incentives for fans.
“We once again look forward to fantastic two weeks of intense district competition,” Hildebrand said.
“Of course, most importantly, we look forward to crowning the winner. But until we crown the winner, it’s important that we acknowledge all inkk users can be winners too.
“There’s a chance for everyone to win tickets to the B.O.G. We’re giving away 500 tickets and that will be launched in the next week.
“I know it will be a great opportunity for the fans of all districts to come out and support their teams and we look forward to some fantastic competition and prizes.”
Fiji FA vice-president Yogeshwar Singh acknowledged the sponsors for their contribution to the success of the tournament.
“This ongoing sponsorship will only help take soccer to another level,” Singh said.
The winner gets $11,000, losing finalist $4000 and the third spot winner receives $1500.
“The 2014 Inkk Mobile B.O.G. will see top gun Suva in full force to take their share of the football cake. The underdogs Navua and Nadroga will be tough nuts to crack as they will be out to prove their worth in the Super Premier Division.
Fiji FA chief executive officer Bob Kumar announced the draws for the tournament with the assistance of Hildebrand and Singh.
Pool A: Lautoka, Navua, Suva, Nadroga;
Pool B: Nadi, Rewa, Ba, Labasa.
The first round of competition will be played on August 22-24 at Govind Park in Ba.
The second round will be held on August 30-31 at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
