The Ba Agriculture Show started yesterday with various stalls showing products ranging from livestock to vegetables at the Vinod Patel Park in Ba.
Hosting the event for the first time in Ba, the show managed to attract a good number of interested farmers.
Principal for Agriculture West, Vinesh Kumar, said the turnout from the people of Ba was something they had not witnessed before.
“The way we have planned for our show is going quiet well. We have had farmers from around the area calling us to display their products and more enthusiastic people,” he said.
“One of our farmers has put exotic animal display like the peacocks and the guinea pigs which is something new for the public,” he said.
The show is believed to assist farmers in answering their queries.
“We have the Research team here with us and also departments from our organisation to assist those farmers who have any questions on anything,” he said.
Thirty-five-year-old farmer, Praneeta Devi, said she was happy to be a part of the agriculture show.
“I am really happy to be part of the show again for three years and the turnout is really good from the public,” she said.
Mrs Devi travels from Eladro in Tavua to Lautoka every year during the Agriculture Show.
“This year the show has made my travelling more easier since now it is in Ba, so it is really good,” she said.
The show will end on Saturday together with the Ba Carnival.
