Koreans and Fijians in Fiji will be joining a renowned singer from Korea, Hyung-ju Yoon.
Mr Yoon who translated the well-known traditional Fijian farewell song “Isa Lei” into Korean during the 1970s will be in the country this month to perform.
Korean counselor, deputy chief of mission to Fiji Han Woo-jung said the singer would perform at two places.
“On August 9 he will be performing in Nadi and August 13 he will be performing at the ICT Centre of the University of the South Pacific,” Ms Woo-jung said.
“This will be his first performance in Fiji and we are looking forward seeing a lot of people because entrance is free but they have to come to the Korean Embassy and get the tickets.”
Ms Woo-jung said Mr Yoon will not be performing alone.
“The Korean version of “Isa Lei” is widely known to Koreans up to this day,” she said.
“A Fijian choir will also be performing while Korean musicians and traditional dancers residing in Fiji will also be taking part.”
Ms Jung said this would be the first time they had organised something big in Fiji.
