Hundreds lined up to make use of the last day of registration at voter registration centres in Suva yesterday.
Registration centres were set up by the Fijian Elections Office in front of MHCC, the Vodafone Triangle and the Government Referral Centre in the capital city.
People from as far as Labasa, Lau and Kadavu who had either moved to or were temporarily staying in Suva and Nasinu turned up to seek changes to their polling station locations.
Zack Valentine, 28, who was one of the many queuing up to register yesterday said he had never participated in any of the previous elections and was undecided on participating in the upcoming election.
“I never really had the time to go and register as well, i live in Nadi and I’m here for the weekend and heard about the registration so I came down to register,” Mr Valentine said.
Esala Tabaloa, 61, of Vikoba Settlement in Nasinu said he wanted to go and vote in a polling station closer to home.
“I was registered to vote at a polling station in Saioni and then I found out last Friday that there is a station that’s going to be set up where I’m staying,” Mr Tabaloa said.
Raj Mati, 55, and Hem Raj, 56, of Vunivutu area in Seaqaqa, Vanua Levu who now reside in Sakoca, Tacirua turned up to seek changes to their polling station location.
“Our lease in Seaqaqa has expired so we moved to Suva last December, we had registered there so we want to change our polling stations,” Ms Mati said.
She said she previously unaware that she had to change her polling station location in order to vote in another polling station.
