Ramakrishna Mission Fiji secretary, Swami Tadananda, is meeting business and political leaders in Wellington, New Zealand this week.
The visit is designed to brief sponsors on current projects and develop new relationships with commercial and government sectors.
High on his agenda are updates on the telemedicine strategy at the Sarada Medical Centre in Nadi.
This unique programme leverages technology to make remote diagnosis and recommendations using health experts around the globe
During the visit, he met with senior executives from First Retail Group Limited.
The company works with a range of businesses in Fiji and actively support the Ramakrishna Mission as part of its Pacific Outreach programme.
Lorraine Nicholson – First Retail’s Pacific Markets manager, has been helping the Mission develop partnerships with professional organisations and suppliers within the medical sector.
“The Sarada Clinic is doing outstanding work with Fiji’s poor and needy,” Ms Nicholson said.
“It’s a cause our company identifies deeply with and we’re delighted to be able to help wherever possible’’
Another initiative the Mission is developing is the Ramakrishna Centre of Human Excellence.
The planned integrated training and meditation centre is seeking funding support from expatriate Fiji citizens, businesses and other organisations.
Speaking from Wellington, Swami Tadananda emphasised the external support necessary to maintain and grow services in Fiji.
“We’re grateful to individuals and businesses that are providing financial and strategic assistance to help our goals,” he said.
“By growing our support base further we hope to be able to provide even greater benefit to those most in need.”
Swami Tadananda returns to Fiji later this week.
