Red Cross of China donated humanitarian goods worth US$200,000 to the Fiji Red Cross Society yesterday.
The donation followed the November, 2012 visit by the president of the Red Cross Society of China, Hua Jianmin, to Fiji.
People’s Republic of China’s Ambassador Huang Yong, who handed over the donation yesterday, said they would continue to support the Fiji Red Cross.
“This is only the beginning and we will continue to maintain this relationship,” Mr Huang said.
The humanitarian goods included inflatable boats, chainsaws, tents, family packs, life jackets, personal protection equipment such as boots, helmets, rain coats, goggles and flashlights.
The president of Fiji Red Cross Society, Cathy Wong, said they were very grateful for this very generous donation from the Red Cross Society of China.
