After losing to Labasa last weekend, Suva will be out to redeem themselves as they face Nadi on Friday in the Fiji Sun/Skipper Tuna National Football League.
Suva head coach Gurjit Singh said they were aiming to qualify for the Oceania Football Confederation’s Champions League.
“The message is very clear for the boys; if they want to qualify for the Oceania Champions League, then they need to start performing well in the next two games because it is very important,” Singh said.
Suva lost to Labasa last weekend 2-1 and in the process, lost their key players Jale Dreloa to a red card as he will will miss two games, and Shahil Dave who is injured.
“We may have lost two players, but we have replacements.”
Replacing Dreloa is Tomasi Uculoa and Noah Vukicea for Dave.
“Our defence let us down in our last games. We conceeded goals and we cannot afford to do that in such a crucial stage of the league.” he said.
Meanwhile, Nadi will await the release of their players as they prepare for a tough game against Suva, says Nadi Football president Navaneeda Gounder.
“At the moment, we are waiting for the release of our players from work because the game is on Friday. In football, anything can happen as you saw with Suva and Labasa last weekend. We won’t take Suva lightly because they are a strong team.”
Suva and Nadi will play at the ANZ Stadium on Friday at 7.30pm.
