Cuvu College remained unbeaten after defending their title at the 2014 Nadroga/ Navosa Schools Chef Competition.
The school was named winners after an outstanding win in the five different categories competing against nine other schools.
Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji’s executive chef, Shailesh Naidu was overwhelmed with the turnout from the schools.
“This year it is much bigger and better compared to the past years and with great support and understanding from the schools.
“Big thanks to the host school for their tremendous support,” he said.
Mr Naidu said the student’s interest towards the competition was continuously growing.
“There is more interest coming in from schools and students. When you see what these kids are doing it is really amazing,” he said.
He advised students to make use of the competition and try to learn more from the event.
“We have offered our support and assistance to all participating schools so make the most of it. This competition is intensifying and there is a call to take this nationally,” he said.
The competition involves only secondary school students and this will be the fourth year the resort is hosting the event.
According to Mr Naidu, the hotel looks forward to hosting the event for the next few years.
“This is my department’s project. If it keeps up the momentum we will be there. And we hope to make it even bigger and better next year,” he said.
