Twenty pints of blood was collected by the Fiji National Blood Service at a blood drive in Makoi yesterday.
In a bid to support the National Blood Bank the mainly Makoi residents donated blood.
Mohammed Nisarali, 28, who is a third-time donor said he believed that this could help to save a life.
“If you help, you will be helped and if people take time to donate blood, then more lives will be saved,” Mr Nisarali said.
According to the Fiji National Blood Service, 50 donors are needed daily to cope with the demand for blood by the hospitals within the nation. To qualify as a blood donor one needs to be a non-remunerated volunteer between the ages of 16 and 65 years and weigh more than 50kg.
