A third-year law student of the University of the South Pacific Shayal Kant knows the importance of a green environment.
Ms Kant will be advocating on the importance of having a green environment in the upcoming 2014 Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North. The festival kicks off on the 23rd of this month.
“Being the eldest in the family it challenges me to be a good example to my younger brother” she said.
“I want everyone to realise that living in a green environment is healthy and we should not destroy the environment” she said.
“I want not only youths to be aware but the whole public of Labasa to be aware of how we should keep our environment; that is trees.” Kant said.
“Going green is what I will stand for in this festival and this is the biggest festival in the North; so I will voice out my concern and how we should protect our trees.” she said.
“I always go with the saying “Green revolution is the best solution to arrest pollution” she added.
The 22- year old is sponsored by Fiji Sugar Corporation and will be vying for the festival crown this month.
