The third seminar on the ‘Implementation of Outcomes of Senior Officials Leadership Training’ was opened last Thursday by the Public Service Commission’s permanent secretary, Parmesh Chand.
The seminar focused on sharing knowledge gained by senior government officials who attended the China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong (CELAP) Leadership Training Programme in 2013.
Mr Chand said through the programme Fiji was fortunate to send 20 officers in the first cohort and 25 followed in the second cohort in 2013.
He said 20 officers had just returned in May after attending the 2014 CELAP training in Shanghai and Beijing.
“The group also includes a few from other statutory organisations such as the Fiji Development Bank, the Housing Authority, the iTaukei Affairs Board, Suva and Lautoka City Council.”
Mr Chand said there were respective delegation heads who shared their learning experience in the areas of improving leadership in the public service and strengthening productivity in the public service.
Mr Chand added that the seminar was part of government’s public service reforms.
“We are trying to improve capabilities and strengthen professionalism within the public service,” Mr Chand said.
