The Ratu Epineri Uluiviti- captained Fiji national sevens team aims to win gold at the 2014 Youth Olympics Games in Najing, China next week.

Team manager Ropate Kauvesi said the side expects tough encounters against Japan, USA, France, Argentina, and Kenya.

“The boys are going for gold and we have worked hard and we have more time to prepare in Nanjing,” Kauvesi said.
The team left yesterday for China via Hong Kong.

“The boys are ready and looking strong. This is the first time 7s rugby will be taking  prior to the 2016 Olympics Games in Rio de Janeiro,” Kauvesi said.

Team captain  and Ratu Kadavulevu student, Ratu Epineri said that they earlier opted to play for the RKS because of their attachment to their school.

“It was our choice but that’s history now,” he said.

“Right now we are we all looking forward to taking part in China. The focus now is to win the gold medal for Fiji.”
Fiji plays Japan next Monday at the Olympic Stadium.
