Cane truck drivers in Labasa are happy with the way the mill is operating.

Drivers from as far as Seaqaqa and Tabia, when asked yesterday morning at the Labasa Mill, said they were thankful to the mill workers for the good performance of the mill.

Ravindra Raj of Tabia said: “I’m very happy with the way the mill is operating.

“At this rate we don’t have to come and wait here for hours; we just come, unload the cane and go back home,” he said.

“Before we used to spend more than nine hours here, but now it only takes a few hours.” He said the mill was operating well and they could make two to three loads a day which also benefits us in terms of income.” Meanwhile, Labasa Mill general manager Karia Christopher said the mill was running well and production was good.

“At this current rate we expect to finish early this year and expect our first shipment later this month,” he said.
