One Fiji offers new GCC blueprint
The One Fiji party leader Filimoni Vosarogo said the party’s manifesto would have the answers to problems he said Fiji has faced since 1987.
Mr Vosarogo was speaking during Fiji Television’s ‘Viti Nikua’ show on Sunday.
“Every party has almost the same thing about taking the country forward and we also have that but it will be up to the people as to who has the blueprint of taking Fiji forward,” he said.
“We believe that the blueprint that we will provide will have the answers to what Fiji went through since 1987 until September 17.
“And we shall open a new chapter after the September elections and we also believe that we have the blueprint or the new way that we need to take after the elections.”
He said the party was also looking at bringing out a renewed Great Council of Chiefs.
“Our proposal is to lay a Great Council of Chiefs that is refined, re-found and plays a different role. What they used to carry out in the past will need to be reviewed and their work uplifted. We the One Fiji party will not want to go and dig up everything that has happened in the previous years but our vision is to get the iTaukei a great vision for our chiefs.”
The party is likely to also support the equal citizenry policy implemented in the 2013 Constitution by the Bainimarama government.
This, was after he said in the show that every individual in the country should be grateful about this policy as it granted them their rights.
“There can be a common name but people will always have their own differences. We the people in Fiji today should accept the fact that we have equal citizenry. This gives us our human rights to be equal and this does not leave us out of our land ownership system,” Mr Vosarogo said.
“We at One Fiji want our people to move away from the land ownership issues but to ideas of utilising the land and the government’s role in strengthening land ownership.”
One Fiji plans to launch its manifesto tomorrow.
