To gauge and promote the MBA programme in the North campus.

The University of the South Pacific’s Graduate School of Business at Labasa hosted a Leadership Forum on Saturday night.

The two-hour forum was especially for the 48 students pursuing a Masters of Business Administration MBA); on how they can become excellent leaders.

The newly-appointed vice-president regional campuses, properties and facilities, Dr Giulio Paunga, said the main purpose of the forum was to show the students the importance of the programme.

“The forum was to check out the development of MBA students in Labasa and also to show the students the significance of the programme,” Mr Paunga said.

“Also to ensure best quality education for the regional campus we brought along experienced people to talk to the students.” Keynote speaker Fijian Holdings Limited’s chief executive officer Nouzab Fareed gave some very encouraging advice for the students.

“We need to have lots of respect when we are in the business world and some Pacific leaders lacked that winning attitude,” Mr Fareed said.

“At FHL we do not believe in rank; we mingle around freely for a healthy working environment.

“Being humble is the main key to becoming a good leader; saying sorry to customers when you need to and that is why the MBA programme is one aspect of becoming a good business leader and 16 of my staff are currently studying the programme.”

Meanwhile, the USP’s Graduate School of Business had received an award as a newly- accredited school under the Association for MBAs (AMBA) at the Annual International Conference for Deans and Directors in Paris, France early this year.
