As a filmmaker, I wish to set a platform to build the film industry in Fiji and I’m here to hunt for locations and start shooting for an upcoming movie venture.

These were the words of Dreamz Productions director, Devesh Pratap Singh.

Mr Singh, the director of the first Bollywood film to be filmed entirely in Auckland, Urban Turban is in Fiji with the star of the movie, Rishi Deepak, who also acted in the locally shot movie, Highway to Suva.

“This is my third trip to Fiji and anyone who lives here knows just how exciting it is when a film chooses your community either for its production location or setting,” he said.

Mr Singh, originally from India, now lives in New Zealand but his love for Fiji remains strong.

“I will be casting a Fiji-born actress and I will have a lot of local talents in the movie.”

He said he wanted to give more opportunities to Fijians to enter the entertainment world of film.

Mr Singh said the story dove into the realistic hardships of their relationship story – two people from different backgrounds, with different cultural norms and beliefs that defined who they were.

He said the vibrant and youthful story had a feel-good youthful vibe which would surely connect with today’s audiences.
