Penang Sangam High School upset favourites Gurunanak Khalsa College of Labasa to qualify for the semifinal of the Vodafone Secondary Schools Football Championships 2014 today.

The Dhirendra Prasad-coached side won 1 – 0 and will face Kamil Muslim College which defeated Labasa Muslim College 1-0.

“I’m very proud of the team, the boys have done well today and made the school proud,” Prasad said.

“This is the first time that I have brought the team and they have produced the results.”

In the quarterfinals, Balata High defeated Vunimoli Islamia College 1 – 0, while Nadi College beat Saraswati College 3-1.

Results: U19: Gurunanak 4 Gospel High 2,Kamil 3 Nawai Secondary 0, AD Patel 1 Natabua 3, Tilak 1 Sigatoka Methodist 0, Naleba 0 Saraawati College 2, Balata High 0 Vashist Muni 0, Labasa Muslim 3 Nadi College 1, Vunimoli 5 Penang 0, Nukuloa 2 Nabua 0.

U15: Gurunanak 1 Vashist 1.

Girls: Open grade semis: AD Patel 1 Kamil 0, Seaqaqa 2 Vunimoli 0.

Finals: U15 AD Patel-Vashist Muni, Gurunanak –Natabua (Natabua needs a draw, Gurunanak needs a win).

U17: Nukuloa College-Nadi Muslim, Labasa Muslim-Nausori High (Nukuloa needs a draw and Nadi Muslim needs a win).

The U19 semifinals and final will be played today.
