A contestant in the Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North is calling for the proper disposal of rubbish.

MilianaLewatoga, a mother of two and a Lady contestant, said proper disposal of rubbish would contribute to cleaner environment and health living.

The 24-year-old from Namuavoivoi Village in Bua said littering had been one of the biggest problems in the North, and especially in Labasa Town.

“Let us put an end to littering,” Ms Lewatoga said.

“Littering has always been around for many years and right here in our hometown, nothing has been done about this.

“The council has put up spot fines and signs to avoid littering, but people continue to litter. It is about time we stand up and teach our children.

“I encourage the people of the North to adopt the same practice. Let us not talk about the solution, let us be the solution,” she said.

Ms Lewatoga is sponsored by Asco Motors.
