United Nations Disengagement Observer Force commander Lieutenant-General Iqbal Singh left his headquarters impressed after he was treated to a cibi (war dance) at the Fiji Battalion farewell parade at Camp Faouar, Golan Heights.

This was after he made a special request to the Fiji battalion to perform the cibi.

Also present at the parade were the advance party for chalk 2, which is taking over at the Fijian locations.

At the parade, outgoing commanding officer Lieutenant-Colonel Sitiveni Qiliho presented a medal to a senior non-commissioned officer.

Meanwhile, work for Fiji Battalion 2 – headed by Commanding Officer Lieutenant-Colonel Isoa Loanakadavu – was normal at the Golan Heights.

Lieutenant-Colonel Loanakadavu said he was confident the second rotation would undoubtedly live up to the high standards set by their predecessors and would continue to keep the UNDOF flag flying high.

The Fiji contingent’s first rotation took over from the Philippines and Indian battalions on July 28, 2013.
