Handy Finance Naitasiri Bulls has had a good outing in their first two matches of the 2014 Telecom B Division competition.

The Highlanders beat Rewa in their first game 33-0 and went on to beat Serua 27-11 in style yesterday at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.

The Bulls scored a bonus point with tries coming from flyhalf Waisale Dau who also kicked a penalty, openside Simione Qerewaqa, fullback Vetaia Rokosuka and Timoci Tigasau with the conversion by Lepani Nabuliwaqa.

Meanwhile, Serua managed two penalties kicked by flyhalf Tevita Saisai and a try late in the second half by halfback Pauliasi Matawalu.

Handy Finance Naitasiri Bulls coach Ratu Manasa Radrotini says their main aim this year is to win the B Division as they failed to reach the semifinal last year.

“We came so close last year so this is another chance for us to prove that we can win it this year,” he said.

“We’re on track, we have won both our games and plan to keep it that way. We are confident that we will go to the next level.”

The added bonus of sponsorship and financial support from Handy Finance has boosted the boys especially when the team is made up of boys from the village.

“Most of the boys come from the village; it’s good for them taking part in a competition because it gives them something to do and gives the boys something to focus on and we thank Handy Finance for their support,” he said.

Serua Rugby Union patron Aseri Latianara says this is just a learning curve for the boys.

Handy Finance Naitasiri Bulls play their last game before the quarterfinals next week against Kadavu while Serua take on Rewa.

In other results Rewa thumped Kadavu 42-20.

The next round of matches will be played on Tuesday where Beqa face Yasawa at Churchill Park, Lautoka.
