Police defeated Navy 43-8 in the final round of the RC Manubhai Suva Rugby Union Escott Shield competition at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday.

In the repeat of the last year’s final, Police proved too strong.

The only Premier game left is between NFA and Navy.

In the RC Manubhai Ambassadors Grade semifinals, Concrete Solutions Qauia Green defeated Grammar 27-23 while FMF USON defeated Breakthrough 21-17.

SRU chairman John O’Connor praised the performance of all the teams in the competition.

“The Premier Grade matches were highly competitive,”he said.

“Police, Army and NFA are the strong contenders to fight for the Escott Shield in the Premier grade as they have played well in their respective matches.

Apart from the Premier grade competition, the semifinalists for the Koroturaga grade were also decided following the quarterfinals yesterday at Buckhurst Park.

Results:

Ambassadors semifinals: Concrete Solutions Qauia Green 27 Grammar 23 , FMF USON 21 Breakthrough 17.

Koroturaga quaterfinals: SSFL Stallions won by default against Tovata, USP Islanders 33 Lomai Black 12, Wakanisila 5 Ricoh Toorak Blues 16, QVSOB 15 Police White 6.

Premier: Army Green 41 Harlequins 16, NFA 54 Savura 10, Police 43 Navy 8, Marist 27 Tacirua 13, Raiwaqa 36 Red Rock 22, Lomai Green 26 Nabua 7, Covenant won by default against Newtown.
