Fiji Airways has donated computers to nine primary and secondary schools.

Three of the nine schools were present at the Fiji Airways office in Nadi yesterday to receive the computers. Masimasi Primary School, Sabeto Central School and Ba Andhra Sangam Primary School all received six PCs each.

The airline’s chief executive officer and managing director, Stephen Pichler, said this was their way of giving back to the communities in Fiji.

“We are part of Fiji and this means we also have a responsibility towards the people of Fiji,” Mr Pichler said.

“Education is one of the things that we really need to focus on a long term basis as a country. We do our little bits here and if everybody comes together, we will make really big waves for the children.”

At the hand-over Mr Pichler urged the teachers to make good use of the computers.

Sabeto Central School teacher Abinesh Raj said yesterday was a proud moment for the school.

“This will boost and enhance our teaching at Sabeto Central School, because we are accelerating through the world with technology,” Mr Raj said.

Other schools that will receive the computers: Mount Saint Mary’s School, St Agnes Primary School, Gau Secondary School, Maigania Primary School, St Joan of Arc Primary School, and Vashist Muni College.
