The Lambert Sarju-coached Lautoka side wants to end their losing jinx in the Battle of the Giants.

Lautoka plays defending champions Ba in the first semifinal this weekend at the ANZ Stadium, Suva on Saturday.

Under the watchful eyes of Sarju, the team has showed improvement despite having to struggle in the first half of the 2014 Fiji Sun/Skipper Tuna National Football League.

“It has been a while that Lautoka has not won a B.O.G title. We have that in mind as we will try our best,” Sarju said.

“We respect them because they have more experienced players and have been playing together than other teams. We have played defensive football during pool play and we conceeded a goal from Suva through lack of concentration. We need to play the full 90 minutes of soccer.”

Defender Poasa Bainivalu who copped the red card of the tournament for elbowing Nadroga striker John Rounds (Junior), will return after serving the one-match suspension.

Lautoka lost to Ba 1-3 in last year’s B.O.G final at Govind Park in Ba.

Lautoka last won the B.O.G in 1985 in Suva when they beat Rewa 3-0 under coach, Mike Thoman.

On the other hand, Suva has played in six finals, but won three – 1982, 1988, and19 95 while Rewa won five out of their eight finals (1994, 2003-2004, 2010-2011).
