FijiFirst is the only party which will field 50 candidates for September 17 elections.

And its leader and Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said they achieved it because their vetting process was stringent.

“When we put our candidate list together, we made sure that we don’t have anyone with baggage with them. Somebody asked me how come none of the FijiFirst candidates’ nominations was rejected by the Supervisor of Elections?

“It is because we did not allow those with baggage into the Party, we followed through with processes when short listing people to stand as our candidates.”

Mr Bainimarama met with all FijiFirst candidates at the party’s Brown Street headquarters, Suva, yesterday.

He briefed them on what was expected of them and the task ahead.

“This is the first time we have gotten together. I had not had an opportunity to meet them to thank them for coming on board to continue in this fight. I am telling them that this fight is for Fiji, for our grandchildren and their grandchildren.”
