The Ba rugby team will not take Yasawa lightly during their 2014 Telecom B-Division Pool A clash at Churchill Park in Lautoka today.

Ba leads Pool A after two wins over Malolo (20-15) and Beqa (23 -12) in earlier encounters.

Ba Rugby Union head coach Gabrieli Naborisi said they would successfully defend their title this season.

“We are looking forward to the match as Yasawa defeated Beqa with a huge scoreline (35-3), so it won’t be an easy match for us,” the former national 7s rep said.

“Last year we lost to Macuata in the promotion/relegation so we have worked that out to make our chances. The boys also know what is required from them individually.”

Naborisi said the team was survived by the core players from last year. The team is captained by Tuifagalele Naliva, with the inclusion of Jone Naio (fullback), Sowani Cava (hooker) and Jo Qoro (tighthead prop), Ilaitia Ravouvou, and Eminoni Naboro.

Former Flying Fijian flyer Vilimone Delasau and national 7s forward Pio Tuwai are included in the extended squad.

Meanwhile, FRU media officer Talei Mow confirmed that there would be only two matches for the B-Division on Saturday.

“The two matches are now being played tomorrow (today). This is because of the Ba team playing the Nadroga Stallions as the curtain-raiser to the first 2014 HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge,” Mow said.

The Ba-Yasawa match kicks off at 3pm while Malolo takes on Beqa at 12.30pm.
