Investment opportunities are set to boom in the Northern Division when road upgrades are completed by the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA).

In particular the upgrading of Buca Bay Road in Cakaudrove is progressing well with the first 10 kilometres from Nagigi to Naqere now sealed.

FRA capital works manager Ian Hunter confirmed this yesterday.

In total Mr Hunter said the Buca Bay Road Improvement Project from Nagigi to Naqere and extending a further 20km beyond Naqere will see a total of 30km of unsealed road transformed into a sealed road.

“Most of the drainage works on the whole 30 kilometres have been completed but some of the bridges are still under construction,” Mr Hunter said.

Meanwhile, the Buca Bay Road Improvement Project funded by the Exim Bank of China was awarded in two packages worth $83.2 million. This will also see the construction of two-26m bridges in package 1 and three-12m bridges in package 2. This is to improve travel conditions and safer journeys for those that travel frequently on Buca Bay Road.
