Former senior civil servant and current executive director of Transparency International (Fiji) Apisalome Tudreu is the new lay vice-president-elect of the Methodist Church in Fiji for 2015.

He described his appointment as one of his top callings.

“I am honored to be chosen to work full time in the church after retirement from the civil service.

Mr Tudreu, who was a former school teacher and has held various posts including permanent secretary in various government ministries, believes his experience will help him in his new role.

He is a confirmed lay preacher of the Methodist Church and is also a member of the church’s executive body standing committee.

Reverend Dr Epineri Vakadewavosa was elected as the general secretary of the church.

He said one of the important aspects the church was looking at the review of the 1984 and 2000 church constitution.

“The church will be trying its best to improve their relationship with the State.

“Whatever regime will lead this country, we will be working together for the betterment of this country.”

Reverend Dr Vakadewavosa said they would also be working with other religious organisations.

Meanwhile, Reverend Ili Vunisuwai is the Secretary for men’s fellowship and deputy secretary for evangelism and Simione Valenitabua is the church legal advisor.
