Ratu Kadavulevu School Under-18 rugby captain Epineri Uluiviti will be Fiji’s flag-bearer in the closing ceremony of the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China this evening.

“The team officials have unanimously voted that Fiji’s flag-bearer for the closing ceremony would be the captain of the rugby team, Epineri Uluiviti,” Team Fiji Chef de Mission Carl Probert said.

Uluiviti captained the Fiji 7s U18 team which won a bronze medal after their 12-0 victory over Kenya. It is Fiji’s lone medal win in the Games.

“We are nearing the end of the trip and with no more events everyone is using the rest of the remaining time here for sightseeing and shopping. Our team managers and physio’s have been making sure the team stays active and has been planning morning activities so that they can all experience the different sports,” he said.

Fiji’s ambassadors to the Games, Matelita Buadromo and swimmer Meli Malani represented the athletes at a discussion with the IOC president to provide feedback on the Games.

The team arrives into Nadi on Saturday from Hong Kong where they will be met by FASANOC president Reg Sanday.
