The Kurabui Warriors team want everyone to know that they earned their spot in the Vodafone Cup 2014 national rugby league quarterfinals today

Coach RopateVulawaqa made the statement yesterday with less than 24 hours before game time.

“We’re here to compete in the quarterfinals and we’ve proved ourselves to be the champions in Vanua Levu,”Vulawaqa said.

“I want to also clear some of the suggestions made that we’re here only because the other team had to pull out.

“We’ve proved ourselves to be the champions of Vanua Levu . When the tournament was launched earlier this year in Dreketi, the officials said that this year’s winning team could come from Vanua Levu and we aim to prove that in Viti Levu.

“We’re hopeful of making an impact and we believe that we will make it through the tough competition and break through to the Top Eight next year.”

Based in the village of Nakorocagi, Dreketi, Macuata, they secured their spot as the number one team in the Northern Zone after finishing at the top of the table with 16 points alongside Police Labasa who pulled out due to work commitments.

The Warriors face Pacific Energy Kinoya Sea Eagles at 11.30am at Suva Grammar School in the first premier quarterfinal. Tuwalu Tigers take on Puma Davuilevu Knights in the second premier quarterfinal at 12.40pm.

Nabua Broncos plays Puma Davuilevu Knights in the reserves quarterfinal at 10am while Fair Trade Makoi Bulldogs meet Pack Leader Nabua Broncos at 2pm in the first Top 8 quarterfinal with Dee Cees Nadera Panthers and Burenitu Cowboys meeting in the second Top 8 quarterfinal at 3.30pm.

On ground two, Narere Eels will playNadera Panthers at 9am in the first U18 quarterfinal while S.NairDavuilevu Knights plays the Wailada Warriors in the second U18 quarterfinal at 9.45am. Warrior Kings play Nadera Panthers in the second reserve quarterfinal at 10.30am.
