Sodelpa Campaign At Catholic Meet

The Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) used this week’s Catholic Women’s League annual conference in Bua to campaign despite assurances their party leader was only there to attend in a private capacity.

The Fiji Sun witnessed brochures promoting candidate SaloteVuiburetaRadrodro (Candidate number 158) also being handed out to the 800 delegates present at the meeting.

The annual conference is being held at the Immaculate Conception Parish at Solevu in Bua.

The three-day conference will see the likes of SODELPA leader Ro TeimumuKepa and First Lady AdiKoilaNailatikau in attendance.

Ro Teimumu refused to be interviewed, saying that the visit was to come and attend the conference and it had nothing to do with campaigning.

However, she was not at the annual general meeting yesterday despite being in the vicinity and SODELPA candidate brochures were handed out despite her assurances.

National President for Catholic women SulitaTuiqali said they would also appoint new office barriers for the next three years.

“This year our new national office bearers are the women from the North while the West is the present holder now.

“ This conference is also part of Catholic women’s responsibility on what the late Archbishop PeteroMataca emphasised that we are mothers.” Mrs Tuiqali said.

“We also raise money so that we can support other parishioners, education and other activities Catholic women are involved in.” She said.

But later Mrs Tuiqali said when it comes to election be wise when voting this year, remember that one of our very own is standing.

Meanwhile, the conference ends tomorrow with a church service where the new office bearers will be present.
